Job description
Landsker Child Care is a very long established, family run, successful provider of residential care to children & young people.
Our approach is summed up in that ‘the welfare of the child is paramount’. This has been our guiding principal since day one. We aim to have a nurturing, safe home that allows young people to form strong relationships with the team.
After 22 years, we operate 8 amazing care homes across Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Vale of Glamorgan and Pembrokeshire, employing 125 people.
We have an Independent Special School, rated as ‘Excellent’ by ESTYN that employs 8 full-time teachers. Landsker Education is an accredited Forrest School as well.
We run our own charity, the Landsker Trust, which supports care leavers. In some cases this is 20 years after children have left Landsker.
For the care teams, hours are 39 per week on a 24-hour rolling shift pattern. Sleep-ins are paid at £71.28 with an average of 9 per month.
All candidates must be willing to work towards Level 3 Health & Social Care. Our sector leading training programme is unique in its depth and breath, including Trauma Informed Practise, Effective Communication and Behaviour Support.
You must have a full manual driving license so that you can drive the company cars.
The young people we look after are aged between 8-18 and come to us from social services departments across Britain.
You will work as part of a team of professionals undertaking a wide range of tasks, including:
· Activities as part of an agreed plan set out weekly with the young person. This might include games, attending clubs, sports, cinema, camping, holidays away…everything families would do.
· Therapeutic interventions, daily reflectors, all using a ‘Trauma Informed’ approach.
· Support family visits.
· Encourage Independent Living Skills.
· Household tasks – there’s a lot of washing up!
You will need to be caring, hard-working, enthusiastic, happy to muck in, playful and a team player.
