The Placements Team is responsible for sourcing quality residential, fostering and supported accommodation placements for children and young people who are in need of protection and are not able to live with their families.

When a placement is required the team will contact and liaise with internal provisions and independent providers to identify a suitable placement match. The team collate the potential options and shares them with the Social Workers or Personal Advisor to identify the most appropriate placement for the child or young person.

What is the job role?

The Children’s Placements Team is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, individual to join our Team. The team are responsible for sourcing high quality residential, fostering and supported accommodation placements for children & young people who are in need of protection and are not able to live with their families.

The Placement officer collates the potential options and shares them with the social workers or Personal Advisor to identify the most appropriate placement for the young person.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who:

  • have a good level of IT skills,
  • a strong customer focus,
  • excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication skills,
  • be able to multi-task and work under pressure
  • prioritise their workload and respond in a timely manner.
  • have the ability and willingness to learn,
  • be adaptable and work flexibly.
  • have the ability to develop and maintain knowledge of different service provisions to meet the needs of looked after children, care leavers and vulnerable young adults.
  • Ability to work in partnership with other professionals to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of the diverse range of children and young people who require our help, support and protection.

Experience of working with children and young people and the issues that looked after children may face is desirable, but not essential.
