Great opportunity to work in a small, home from home setting whilst gaining a qualification in Early Years. We have an excellent longstanding reputation and experienced staff. You will join our child led, nurturing ethos and spend your time exploring nature and encouraging independence and creativity.
We are looking for an apprentice to assist with all aspects of caring and educating our young friends at Hippy Kids. We run a messy playgroup once a week, visit the local nursing home and practice yoga. We have a very creative space that the children are encouraged to access freely. We believe our role as the educators includes providing exciting opportunities for children to explore whilst keeping them safe and promoting their happiness.
Duties will include;
Reading, playing and taking part in creative activities
Assisting with routines such as toileting, nappy changing Assisting with meals and naps (tailored to meet each child’s needs)
Working on your own initiative to meet children’s basic needs
Demonstrating an awareness and willingness to contribute to keeping the setting clean, tidy and appealing to the children (setting up simple invitations to play)
We pride ourselves on our strong relationships with our families. Training will be provided with communicating with parents and providing feedback about child development.
Training Provided
Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Hippy Kid's will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard which includes:
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification
Functional skills in Maths and English if required
This will be delivered through Hippy Kid's Training's dedicated training provider, Realise.
Realise is an established training provider that’s enjoying an exciting period of growth following a management buyout and rebrand in late 2020.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is calm, patient and nurturing. A sense of humour is essential as everyday is different and so is every child. The role would suit someone who is creative and loves nature and animals – we have a dog at the setting who the children love.
Entry Requirements and Qualifications
No experience or qualifications required as full training will be provided for the role if a passion and genuine interest in Early Years is evident at interview.
Other Information
We will arrange a DBS check for the successful candidate. There is free parking available in the streets opposite our setting. We are within walking distance of Portslade train station and are also on all the main bus routes. . 4 weeks holiday a year, two weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks during the Summer holidays.
