A very rare & exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and experienced Health Care Support Worker’s to join our fantastic and expanding team and develop into the role of Child Development Assistant.
The Child Development Service (CDS) serves Children with complex needs/ physical or neuro-disability and their families in the Bradford District. We are a team made up of Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language therapists, Psychologists and Child Development Assistants
The team work collaboratively alongside other agencies striving to provide an excellent service for children/young people (CYP) and their families. As a team we work closely with families in order to ensure that the specific health needs of the CYP are met through assessments and formulations of individualised treatment plans which promote independence. Furthermore our expert team signpost to the appropriate support of outside agencies and organisations, including social care and voluntary sector.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be trustworthy and professional and have the ability to use available resources to provide a consistent and safe service to the children and families of the Bradford District.
Furthermore the successful applicant will have a positive attitude towards their work and be well subscribed to the Bradford Teaching Hospitals corporate trust values.
- Assist individual children and their families with all care needs within department under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse or other registered profession
- Contribute to the ongoing support of children and their families during their time in the department and during transition to other care environments
- Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service. See section regarding Respect for Patient Confidentiality below
- Provide children and their families with information about the department and specified procedures as necessary, answering questions / providing additional advice as required
- Assessment of child’s condition through measuring and recording observations, for e.g. Blood pressure, Pulse, Blood glucose, swab and sample taking whilst using medical devices as appropriate
- To participate in, and support the multi-disciplinary team with the developmental assessment process in initial appointments and reviews. This will involve developmental assessments, social and communication (Autism) assessment and structured play based assessments. (Training will be provided)
- Working with and supporting the families of children with complex and life limiting conditions, many of whom will be newly diagnosed or awaiting a diagnosis
- To be involved with the preparation of children for assessment, familiarising the child with new apparatus and procedures, and helping to reduce stress and anxiety of attendance at CDC
