The Langham, London; Europe’s first Grand Hotel and Forbes 5* rated property, is currently recruiting for a Chief Steward to join our talented Back of House team. We are looking for a true hospitality professional, with the flair to deliver service at the highest level.
In the role of a Chief Steward, your key focus will be to:
- set standards and policies of the department and maintain them at all times eg hotel operating system, polishing of silverware and inventories of operating equipment
- ensure high levels of hygiene and sanitation are maintained at all times throughout the back of house areas
- conduct weekly property inspections with manager of the night contract cleaning company to ensure the set standards are maintained
- conduct regular back of house inspections with representation from hotel's senior management to proactively ensure high levels of cleanliness and equipment safety are maintained
- comply with local rules and regulations (City of Westminster EHO guidelines), in particular to hygiene and health and safety
- comply with health and safety matters and actively contribute and support the hotel’s sustainability and environmental practices
- ensure high productivity and flexibility within the department and promote effective co-operation within own areas and with other departments
- establish and maintain a personnel management system including induction, training and career development
Do you have? -
- previous similar experience in a 5* hotel with a large banqueting operation and outlet restaurants
- excellent leadership, organisational and motivational skills
- excellent attention to detail
- ability to multi-task, work under pressure and prioritise needs
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- good knowledge of HACCP and COSSH
