About the facility:
The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new 100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
Role Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer to join our brand new team at The Harborne Hospital. Reporting to the Estates Manager, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that engineering/maintenance services are delivered to the highest possible standards and meet the requirements of the facility.
To develop and implement a planned prevention programme of maintenance
To respond to unplanned and emergency maintenance requests, prioritising workloads for an efficient and effective service
To work within statutory and hospital policies and practices, ensuring safety
To hold AP/RP duties and be responsible for the training and appointing of CP's and contractors.
To manage a team of engineers, facilitating excellent teamwork
Risk assessment, advising the management on legislative and preventive actions
Ensure 24 hour maintenance cover for the hospital
To liaise with external contractors and monitor work performance
To identify and cost materials, with responsibility for low cost ordering
To provide teaching and guidance to junior staff
To provide technical guidance and advice to hospital departments/staff
Ensure that equipment is audited and documented
To advise Estates Manager/CEO on deficiencies in system and contribute to strategic planning of replacement/repair
Maintain staff records
Produce specifications for projects
Deal with enquiries/requests for maintenance advice/intervention
Prioritise workload, able to respond quickly to emergency calls
Work on own initiative, able to make responsible decisions
Your experience will include but would not be limited to:
Training in relevant discipline e.g. Electrical/Mechanical
Experience in similar organization
In depth knowledge of HTM's and HBN's and relevant legislation
Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
Health and Safety, COSHH
Lifting and Handling
Ability to organise maintenance work, causing minimal disruption to the hospital activities
