The Hereford operation is the major European production facility in the PCC Energy Group and we now have an exciting opportunity for a Chemist to join the SMW team.

Role Summary:

The IncoTest Chemist is responsible for the Wet Chemistry laboratory, coordinating methods development and routine analysis of test sample as well as environmental monitoring.

Essential Functions:

To co-ordinate, the Chemical Analysis department in providing analysis of samples from materials manufactured at SMW, which include but are not limited to: Product Analysis, Contract Testing samples, Process Control samples and Environmental Monitoring.

  • Technical lead for ICP-OES GD-MS, XRF, Spark OES and other analytical techniques
  • Technical lead for process and environmental testing
  • Method development
  • Work with the Analysis Coordinator to ensure safety, quality and efficiency
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organisation of the laboratory
  • Provide routine updates to the Production Supervisor on the progress of Release Testing
  • Support the Sales Office team in responding to customer enquiries and providing RFQs
  • Coordinate the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Attend daily IncoTest TOC meeting on behalf of the Chemical Analysis Department
  • Potential line management responsibility

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate.

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Degree qualified (minimum 2:1) in Chemistry or a relevant scientific subject e.g. Forensics, Materials Science, Environmental Science.
  • 2 years Laboratory experience
  • Instrumentation and Wet Chemistry experience (preferable)
  • Method Development experience (preferable)

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and customer requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong focus of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Ability to learn, follow and refine procedures
