Job description

The recruited person will provide support to the Ambassador and the Delegation staff and their visitors while in transit. The Driver will work under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Administration.

The position is full time (37.5 weekly working hours) and will entail paid overtime to be performed during weekdays and weekends. Ths annual basic gross starting salary is from £28,788 subject to proof of at least five years' relevant experience.

Tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:

Driving the Head of Delegation, the official staff of the Delegation and the VIP visitors as per assignment in a safe and law-abiding manner to ensure passenger safety and vehicle longevity.

Cleaning, maintaining and repairing the vehicles placed under his/her responsibility.

Monitoring the level of fuel, engine oil, radiator water, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc.

Maintaining daily and accurately the vehicle logbook and maintaining car documents.

Delivering messages, mail and running some errands.

Assisting in customs clearance procedures when requested.

Assisting in tackling car registration formalities.

Performing other support tasks as requested by the Head of Administration.

Must be medically fit to perform the required duties confirmed by a pre-recruitment medical exam.

Good knowledge of English essential.

Secondary school leaving certificates and minimum 3 years of working experience related to job description required.

Valid UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK essential.

Must be familiar with the location of major buildings such as Embassies, Ministries and main landmarks in London.

The following will be considered an asset:

A qualification in mechanics.

Work experience in international organisations and/or diplomatic missions.

Knowledge of French or any other EU languages.

Required Skills

Personal initiative, flexible with hours, organisation skills and able to perform duties independently with speed and accuracy.

Very good team player, able to adapt in a multi-cultural environment.

High degree of integrity and discretion.

Be computer literate in order to use specific IT applications for drivers.
