Job description
Hours: Full time – 41 hours per week (Monday-Friday – 07:45-16:00). Occasional overtime hours will be expected for which overtime will be paid.
About Us
We’re MI6, also known as the SIS. Our mission is to protect the security and economic wellbeing of the UK from overseas threats such as regional instability, terrorism, and cyber-attacks. Working across the globe and in close partnership with MI5 and GCHQ, we help the Government to counter these threats through the provision of secret intelligence. A role in MI6 will see you providing vital support to this work, within a supportive and encouraging environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.
About the Role
As a Chauffeur, you’ll be an integral part of the logistics services we provide and part of a busy team who provides a full range of transportation services in support of MI6. And your days will be varied. You might be driving our colleagues to meetings across the city in a four-seater one day or delivering and collecting packages to various locations in a 7.5-ton lorry the next. And in between, you’ll be supporting the general maintenance of our vehicles. Our people and packages are always on the go, so at times you may be asked to cover different locations across the capital.
About You
This is the perfect role for someone who likes to be on the move and has excellent interpersonal skills. So you’ll be comfortable working in a customer-facing role as well as communicating with customers and colleagues at varying levels of seniority. You’re a real team player who’s adaptable and flexible.
Crucially, you’ll have a full UK driving license, and an extended license that permits you to drive a minibus and 7.5-ton lorries. Experience of driving large vans, minibuses or lorries is vital for you to be successful in this role. You’ll also have extensive knowledge of Central London and surrounding areas; this might mean you’ve previously worked as a taxi or delivery driver.
Training and Development
As well as all the support you need to get the best start in your role, you’ll receive ongoing training to help you thrive. When you join us, you’ll attend an induction to get to know our organisation. And you’ll also have plenty of ongoing opportunities to develop further including advance driver training and accredited driving qualifications.
Rewards and Benefits
You’ll receive a starting salary of £29,979 + £3050 LPA (depending on skills and experience) plus other benefits including:
- 25 Days Annual Leave automatically rising to 30 days after 5 years' service, and an additional 10.5 days public and privilege holidays
- Opportunities to be recognised through our employee performance scheme
- Interest-free season ticket loan
- Excellent pension scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Facilities such as a gym, restaurant and on-site coffee bars (at some locations)
- Paid parental and adoption leave.
Equal Opportunities
At MI6 diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including those from groups that are under-represented in our workforce such as women, those from an ethnic minority background, people with disabilities and those from low socio-economic backgrounds.

We’re Disability Confident
MI6 are proud to have achieved Leader status within the DWP’s Disability Confident scheme. This is our ‘Offer of Interview’ (OOI). To secure an interview for this vacancy, the essential criteria (in order of application process) are:
- Passing the application sift carried out by the Hiring Manager
