We are looking for an exceptional stock processor/retail support to join our fantastic shop team in Wakefield.
Our Charity shops raise the much needed funds to help run our Animal Centre – so if you have Retail experience and would like to help support local animals, then this could be the job for you!
Our Wakefield Charity Shop is a long standing store for our Branch area as it helps connect the local community to the work that we do in our Animal Centre at East Ardsley. As a Stock Processor/Retail Support you will be responsible for the day to day stock selection of donated goods for sale in our Charity shops. You will work with the Supervisor to ensure the shop is fully stocked selling items of clothing, household goods and small items of furniture. You will also cover for the Supervisor on days off/holiday/sickness. You will work closely with the Deputy Retail Manager to ensure that Sales targets are met and help promote the shop in the local area, including our Animal Food Bank that operates from the shop. You will also be responsible for supervising a team of volunteers in the shop and ensuring that the highest standards are met.
The work of the Stock Processor/Retail Support is varied and the ideal candidate must be adaptable and enjoy the challenge & the fun of a charity shop role. This role is flexible working 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7.
Duties includes:
· Adhere to the agreed Branch standards & policies and any relevant legislation in relation to working in a charity warehousing & donation processing environment.
· Adhere to all health & safety policies including COVID 19 secure requirements
· To meet or exceed the agreed donation processing targets.
· Build and develop positive internal and external relationships to ensure maximum productivity & income for the charity
· To attend meetings and training courses as requested
· To carry out such other tasks as directed by the Deputy Retail Manager
· Ensure all stock is sorted, priced, steamed and labelled in accordance with Branch standards.
· Assist with the recycling of all goods including books, metal, and disposal of any waste.
· Ensure there is adequate flow of stock from incoming to boxed ready for eBay or charity shop floor.
· Select and price stock at a consistent level in accordance with Branch price guides.
· Follow Gift Aid procedures to maximise stock and income for the Branch
· Preparation of unsuitable clothing for collection by textile merchants
· Support the ‘Collection by Appointment’ service and the ‘Donation Drive-Thru’ days organised by the Branch
· Comply with all instructions given by the Deputy Retail Manager/Head of Retail.
· Contribute to an organised and pleasant working environment for staff and volunteers.
· Promote good communications and an open approach to change.
· Promote good teamwork and encouragement to volunteers
· Recruiting and training Volunteers in all aspects of the job
· Ensuring good practice in Health & Safety throughout the shop premises
· Supporting and promoting the Animal Food Bank scheme within the shop
· Representing the Branch in the community and encouraging customers and donors to support the work of the Animal Centre
