Job Advert – Services Manager (1 year fixed term – maternity cover)
Title: Services Manager
Responsible to: Board of Trustees
Salary Range: £25000 - £30000
Contract Type: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover, starting May 2023
Hours: 5 days per week (37.5 hours), Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
Occasional evenings and weekends, including monthly evening Board meetings
Location: Central Milton Keynes
Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays
About Headway
Headway-the brain injury association is the UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support and information services, as well as raising awareness and lobbying.
Headway Milton Keynes is one of a strong network of Headway groups and branches across the UK and Channel Islands providing a wide range of services to ABI survivors. Our services include advice and information, weekly rehabilitation and social opportunities and personalised 1-1 support. We operate as a charity in our own right and work hard to raise funds at a local level to continue to provide and develop the services we offer to our clients and their support network.
About the Role
As Service Manager you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of service provisions, operational management and ensuring we meet all statutory requirements. Headway Milton Keynes expects you to work with clients, their family members and external agencies involved in a clients’ life. You will be part of a small team working to provide physical, cognitive, social and emotional rehabilitation to our clients and their families, towards the aim of helping them regain a purposeful and meaningful life.You will be an effective communicator and have experience working in partnership with relevant stakeholders. This role requires the ability to get around to different locations within Milton Keynes and surrounding towns and villages, for work purposes.

General Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Ensure the day to day operations of the organisation are effectively and efficiently co-ordinated and conducted within agreed frameworks.
- Provide the board with clear and transparent monthly reports on the operational effectiveness of the service.
- Develop and maintain effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
2. Service Delivery
- Take charge of all service delivery, planning and allocating of tasks.
- Ensure assessments of new and existing clients are completed and reviewed regularly.
- Maintain effective communication between Headway and our members.
3. Financial Management
- Manage the day-to-day finances of the charity and keep accurate records.
- Ensure all financial reporting requirements are met.
- Source and apply for funding opportunities.
- Plan and run the fundraising activities of the organisation.
4. Staff Management
- Foster good working relations with staff and volunteers.
- Provide clear leadership, developing and managing staff performance.
- Provide regular formal supervisions and annual appraisals for team members, identifying any training needs.
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers.
5. Compliance and governance
- Review, develop, implement and comply with policies and procedures, in line with legislation and good practice.
- Carry out all statutory duties, including safeguarding and health and safety responsibilities.
- Undertake appropriate training and personal development as appropriate.
6. Other
- Raise awareness of brain injury and our charity within the community, identifying and building good stakeholder relationships with relevant partner networks and agencies.
- To assist with general housekeeping tasks to ensure Headway Milton Keynes is tidy and clean.
- To undertake such other reasonable tasks as may, from time to time, be deemed necessary.
Core Competencies and Skills
Experience
1. At least 2 years experience in a similar role
2. Experience of managing service provision in a health or social care capacity
3. Experience of maintaining positive working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals
4. Knowledge and experience of local and national processes and principles related to the social care, voluntary and charity sectors.
5. Experience of dealing with all aspects of quality management as part of good governance
Knowledge and Skills
1. An understanding of brain injury and the impact it has on individuals and their families
2. Excellent knowledge of Safeguarding legislation & practices
3. Knowledge of fundraising and communication strategies
4. Excellent I.T skills, with proficiency in use of Microsoft office package and social media platforms
