Job description
Our partner helps children in Africa succeed through the power of reading, providing literacy support to schools and communities in Zambia where child literacy levels are often below 25%.
They had a Treasurer who monitored the financial administration of the charity, but they stood down from the board in 2020 and the organisation have yet to appoint a replacement with the CEO currently overseeing their financial management. Key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Monitoring the financial administration of the charity and reporting to the board of trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health.
- Liaising with the CEO to oversee budgets and internal management accounts and to present annual financial statements to the board of trustees.
- Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.
- Liaising with the external auditors to prepare the charity’s annual accounts and the related board reports for submission to the Charity Commission.
They are seeking someone familiar with charity accounting practices and good financial analysis skills. The board meets quarterly, usually online although occasionally in-person in the South East, and the post-holder will also need to allow time to advise the CEO on ongoing financial matters.
Please note that this is a volunteer role and there is therefore no remuneration.
