We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our team to deliver a quality food service that meets the individual needs of our residents. What matters to us the most, is taking pride in what you do and a willingness to learn. The applicant will cover the needs of the catering team as required, predominantly two shifts per week.
The Role
As a Catering assistant you will be expected to:
- · To facilitate and support the cook in the delivery of attractive, nutritious and appetising food to the residents of The Manor in line with the policies and procedures of the Manor House St. Hilary.
- Assist with serving of meals to our residents, ensuring all special dietary needs are met and prepare texture modified food as directed
- · Ensure required records are maintained and control stock rotation
- · Prepare and deliver breakfast as requested to our residents.
- · Assist to maintain cooking and cleaning regimes (daily, weekly, periodically etc) for all areas of the kitchen
- · Ensure all aspects of the meal preparation areas within the care home operates to acceptable standards
- · Ensure that the meal preparation areas comply with all regulatory requirements
- · Assist as and when required with the unloading of deliveries & supply vehicles
- · Have a thirst and willingness to learn the skill set needed for this role under the direction of our Head Chef.
Requirements
Essential:
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or evidence of Food Hygiene awareness is essential for this role
- Applicants must be reliable and trustworthy
- Applicants must be organised, well presented and have good time-keeping
- Applicants must be flexible and willing to work weekends where necessary
- Driving License
Desirable:
- Experience in working with vulnerable adults
- QCF Level 2 in Catering & Hospitality
- Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate
Previous experience and ideally NVQ/QCF Level 2 would be an advantage but is not essential. Applicant must be prepared to begin QCF programme if without this qualification with opportunities offered to study for the qualification. In house training and uniform is provided.
Successful applicants are required to undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
Own transport is essential due to the location of the home.
Working Hours 7:00 AM - 15:00 PM . Hours per week negotiable.
Hourly Rate starting from £10.50
Post only open to non smoking applicants and will be required to work in a strictly non smoking environment. Applicants will be required to maintain a professional appearance, in keeping with the nature of the business - no visible tattoos when wearing uniform of a polo tshirt.
