Cardiff Met Sport is the driving force behind sport, physical activity, health & wellbeing in Wales’ Capital City. We run and offer a range of sporting opportunities for children from our communities on the Cardiff Met Cyncoed Campus. We also lead the strategic direction and delivery of a wide variety of cutting-edge development programmes across schools, communities, clubs & workforce, and health & wellbeing both on our campuses and throughout Cardiff. At Cardiff Met Sport we are continually growing our programmes and need a passionate and dedicated workforce to support our growth. We have a number of roles available across Cardiff Met Sport including:
- Casual Coaches (Various sports including Basketball, Tennis, Athletics, Trampolining, Gymnastics, Hockey, Rugby, Netball and multi-sports)
- Casual Community Campus Assistants
- Casual Swimming Teacher
- Casual Assistant Swimming Teacher
You will work alongside our experienced staff and hours of work will vary from office hours through to evenings and weekends. You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent participant experience.
What you’ll do – key duties
Casual Junior Sport Coaches:
We are looking for enthusiastic, qualified sports coaches to help us deliver the Junior Sport programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University and you will work within your chosen sport as part of the coaching team to maximise the participant experience in the Junior Sport Programme. You will support with planning and delivery of inclusive, safe and effective coaching sessions for a range of participants, using appropriate equipment and methods.
Casual Community Campus Assistants:
You will work with the team of community campus sport officers to operate school sport facilities for community use during evenings and weekends. You will help build and maintain a strong relationship with both the school staff and community sports clubs and organisations who are accessing the facilities, ensuring all facilities and clubs are operated safely. This post is offered on a casual basis.
Casual Swimming Teachers:
We are at an exciting stage of progression within aquatics at Cardiff Met Sport. A completely new Learn to Swim programme is due to launch this year, offering
enthusiastic and determined people the chance to assist in the development of a modern and competitive swim education provision. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase your ideas and make your mark on an ever-growing Aquatics Programme.
What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Understanding of customer care and service delivery.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and within a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with both internal and external partners.
- Good understanding of customer care and Health & Safety.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
