POSITION PURPOSE
Assists the Front End Supervisor in overseeing operations on the Front End including the Lot. Ensures Cashiers and Lot Associates provide customers with fast, friendly, accurate and safe service. Positions Cashiers and supports them by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale Transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. Provides first level of escalation for customer
issues. Assists in the supervision, coaching and training of other Front End Associates by participating in the training of new Cashiers and utilizing all available tools to coach and develop other Cashiers. Ensures that policies and procedures are followed to minimize shrink. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager On Duty, and working safely as not to
endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Oversees Operations of the Front End
Monitor customer throughput as priority - ensuring that sufficient POS stations are available at all times. Maintain lines no longer than one at the register plus two more waiting
Oversee operations of Front End including Self Checkout, Lot and all remote register locations
Ensure Lot Associates are maintaining the Parking Lot and other areas outside the store
Ensure shopping carts are clean and available for customer use
Approve markdowns according to SOP
Approve all POS transactions requiring intervention following Front End SOP
Handle customer complaints using the HEAT (Hear, Empathize, Apologize, and Take responsibility) method, involving management as necessary
Maintain shoppability and safety standards on the Front End, including but not limited to register checkstands, endcaps, Lot, Front Apron, Special Services Desk, and Pro Desk
Fulfill the duties of a Cashier when required by business needs
NATURE AND SCOPE
Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the store, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface
The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy
Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions
May have to handle merchandise and work with tools with sharp edges
Passing forklifts emit gas fumes
Tools, supplies and related merchandise may contain hazardous materials
May have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can fluctuate
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Requires recognizing, identifying and using merchandise and necessary reports
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements:
Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:Cashier Skills: Demonstrates ability to quickly and accurately process transactions. Processes transactions efficiently (Seconds Per Transaction), minimizes voids/clearance actions, minimizes
quantity key usage, and maximizes scanner usage
Return/Exchange Skills: Demonstrates ability to efficiently and accurately process returns and exchange transaction
Self Checkout: Demonstrates knowledge of all Self Checkout procedures. Coaches customers on the use of Self Checkout and assists customers with transaction
Customer Recovery Skills: Handles dissatisfied customers or customer complaints effectively, defuses negative situations as appropriate; shows diplomacy; guides toward positive resolution; conveys a sense of competence and effectiveness to customer. Escalates the issue to manager when appropriate
Cash handling Skills: Demonstrates knowledge of cash handling policies and procedures
