Salary range for this position is: $51,307.20/yr. - $69035.40/yr. (depending on experience)

As a Cashier Manager, you will be responsible for being a key member of the team that ensures student financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently in order to help students succeed in their educational goals. In this role, you will manage a team of cashiers who are responsible for taking payments, recording them accurately, reconciling accounts, and interfacing with various payment systems and methods.

The Cashier department is an integral part of the Campus Business Office and the District Finance Office. These offices provide administrative and financial support to the college and strive to make it easier for all college staff to support student success.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE

What you will be working on:

  • Manage and supervise staff performing cashier functions; hires, provides training, plans, organizes, and assigns workloads; reviews work products for accuracy and compliance with Seattle College District policies and procedures.
  • Provide culturally responsive leadership, applying appropriate interpersonal skills and timely decision making.
  • Provide leadership in district-wide collaborations and for cashiering processes and best practices.
  • Create a team environment conducive to quality professional work.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • An Associate's degree AND a minimum of two (2) years full-time supervisory work experience as a cashier supervisor/lead; OR at least four (4) years full-time supervisory work experience as a cashier supervisor or lead cashier; OR a Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of two (2) years of related full-time work experience in cashiering.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide skillful culturally responsive service with non-English speaking and multi-ethnic and multi-cultural populations in a work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff and maintain adherence to complex organizational policies and governing regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of positive customer service practices in ensuring service excellence as a top priority for the Cashier's Office.
  • Ability to recognize highly complex problem situations and provide solutions and/or support where necessary; exhibiting patience, objectivity, and understanding; modeling professional demeanor in working with customers; and employ patient listening skills.
  • Expert knowledge of cashiering processes such as reconciling cash receipts on a daily basis; balancing cash receipts to daily deposits; and maintaining adherence to all internal control procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of the college's proprietary cashiering system (FMS and interfaces with SMS and SFA systems and internal controls); OR equivalent knowledge of an equally complex cashiering system and interfaces.
  • Ability to implement a back-up manual receipting process in the event of system failure, when necessary.

Physical Requirements:

The position

  • Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
  • Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
  • Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
