Responsible for operating the cash register and handling money according to policy. Computes cost of meals, programs cash register with appropriate prices of food items, clears register out for next mean and turns in tape to supervisor. May prepare coffee for patrons.
Responsibilities:PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)
- Assists in delivering and picking up of special catering set-ups.
- Delivers functions on half hour before scheduled event.
- Checks assigned station before start of each meal for set up, cleanliness, and ensures proper and safe functioning of equipment.
- Reports any equipment that is not functioning to supervisor immediately.
- Checks register for correct amount of money in bank before start of meal.
- Operates cash register for assigned meal.
- Programs cash register according to the menu, computes total amount of customer, employee, and visitor meals.
- Cleans work station thoroughly using double bucket method and proper cleaning chemicals.
- Transports dirty pans, utensils, and trays to dish room or pot and pan areas before leaving station for another assignment.
- Disposes of trash as needed.
- Makes money drops appropriately in safe.
- Obtains change from Business Office as necessary for operation including extra amounts for weekends.
- Posts menu and prices for meals on daily menu board.
- Prepares coffee for Cafeteria, keeps front of counter neat and orderly, and fills condiments, cups, and napkins.
- Removes tape from the register, counts money accurately, leaving bank for next meal.
- Records pertinent information in envelope on balance from reading, cash, tickets, customer count, and signed tickets.
- Turns in envelope with tape, receipt for cash and tickets to supervisor daily.
- Places receipts in Cafeteria Manager's office.
- Takes a reading total and number of customers served from customer count on register and clears register at the end of each meal.
- Records daily customer count and money taken in the meal census book.

- Knowledge of computerized cash registers.
- Ability to read, write legibly, and speak English.
- Ability to handle money honestly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
- Ability to concentrate under hectic conditions.
- Good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- 1 Relevant Required
