Job description
Description – Supervises and coordinates activities of cashiers engaged in receiving cash or credit-card payment for merchandise or services and keeping records of funds received. Performs cashiering and other clerical duties to relieve subordinates during peak work periods.
Plans, prepares, and devises work schedules, according to budgets and workloads. Trains and instructs employees. Observes and evaluates cashiers' performance. Issues instructions and assigns duties to cashiers. Participates in the hiring and discharging of cashiers. Interprets and communicates work procedures and company policies to staff. Helps cashiers in resolving problems and completing work. Resolves complaints and answers questions of customers regarding services and procedures. Reviews and checks work of subordinates such as reports, records, and applications for accuracy and content, and corrects errors. Prepares, maintains, and submits reports and records, such as budgets and operational and personnel reports.
Searches records to assist subordinates in locating and reconciling posting errors on customers' invoices, such as sales tickets, or compares cash register totals with receipts in register to verify accuracy of transactions. Custody and reconciliation of cash drawer, petty cash fund and PM fund. Totals and summarizes funds received, endorses checks, prepares bank deposit slip and makes deposit.
Supervision – Reports to the Store Manager.
Education – High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized training in accounting and record keeping at the community college level is desirable.
Experience – At least two years of experience as a Cashier and 1 year of management experience.
Equipment – Computer-based cash register, fax machine, copier and other office equipment.
Working Conditions – The job is indoors in a heated and air-conditioned environment. Requires a significant amount of standing.
