Equities and Securities Financing Operations is a very dynamic department that works with partners across the HSBC Global Banking and Markets business to deliver Investments in Equity Derivatives and Financing products to Clients.

We are currently seeking a professional to join our team in the role of: Cash Equity and Flow Derivatives Middle Office Associate.
The role is to provide direct support for the business and ensure a high level of service to Trading & Sales, Client services teams, operations and external clients. This will be across both HBEU and HBCE. The role will also help drive and provide support for ongoing change and operations improvement programs.
You will also be tasked with providing oversight of key operational risk indicators and ensuring appropriate escalation to both trading and operations management when required. Driving root cause analysis and proposing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily activities for the Cash Equity Desk Support Team including High touch, Program Trading, Low Touch (algorithm), ETF desks (trading and sales), and Flow derivatives with activities such as Corporate Financing, QIS or Convertible Bonds.
- Driving a change culture within the Desk Support function and feeding items into the relevant product owner/change forums for prioritisation
- Working closely with senior representatives of the Front Office to provide booking solutions and service for high priority clients. Working directly with clients on STP solutions to improve experience and HSBC performance metrics.
- Woking with trading desks across HBEU & HBCE on new products and ensuing that booking models are both suitable for trading and operations
- Understanding Front To Back Flows and Improving Risk and Control metrics.
- Liaising with Global Operations teams to ensure timely response to client queries and swift resolution of Failing trades, reconciliation issues and regulatory/tax obligations.
- Ensure timely booking of Complex Trades, Allocations (matching on electronic platform), Data Enrichment & Repair, Corporate Action Management, Query Resolution and Static & Market Data Management.
Required knowledge and experience:
- Excellent Front to back knowledge of the Cash Equity business
- Relevant experience of dealing with senior Front Office stakeholders, preferably from a trading floor environment would be preferential
- Experience of successfully managing and developing a team in a previous role
- Strong understanding of Cash Equity Market Specificty and structure (MENA markets for example, Agent bank roles etc…)
- Prior evidence of turning designs and principles into robust processes and activities
- An excellent understanding of the regulatory and control enviornment.
- Project / change experience is very desirable.
- Ability to problem solve, articulate requirements and implement change
- Ability to learn new processes and develop a rigid understanding of the department products
- Ability to prioritise tasks in order of deadlines and importance
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills
