Job summary
Sometimes things go wrong. At the CCRC we help to put them right.
We are the independent public body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice. It is down to us to tackle complex issues across a broad range of criminal cases. We have dealt with some of the most serious miscarriages of justice of the last 50 years.
This is your opportunity to play a part in this essential, often life-changing work.
At the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), we work in the interests of justice, and we are wholly independent. We do not represent the police, prosecution, court, or government. We do not represent the person applying for a review of their case. Staying independent helps us investigate alleged miscarriages of justice objectively and impartially.
We have unique statutory powers that allow us to obtain any material in the possession or control of a public body, including sensitive material like medical or intelligence records. Not only that, but we are empowered to form a complete picture of a case from start to finish, and we are the only people who can send a case back to court for a second or subsequent appeal.

Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Casework Administrator to join the CCRC on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
Casework Administrators provide administrative support to casework and thereby contribute to fulfilling the CCRC’s purpose of finding, investigating and referring suspected miscarriages of justice.
They play a key role in our reviews, providing accurate and timely support to casework groups and ensuring that we have the information and material necessary to carry out our investigations. Each Casework Administrator works on a portfolio of cases, varying in complexity and conviction type, and is responsible for providing the administrative support vital for the conduct of the review – obtaining material from public and private bodies and then ensuring that it is returned complete at the end of a review, dealing with correspondence, speaking with applicants, and updating our digital case management system.
To be a successful Casework Administrator you must be positive, highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and a keen eye for detail. We need someone who can be relied upon to build relationships and solve problems. In return, we offer you a unique perspective on the criminal justice system and criminal cases.
