Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a skilled Carpenter to provide specialist carpentry services within the Estates Management maintenance team at Stowe School.
Your role will be to organise, prioritise and carry out the work as requested by the Foreman or Maintenance Supervisor. Duties will include the design, construction and repair structures using wooden raw materials and various implements. You will be skilled in measurements, cutting, shaping of wooden materials using tapes, saws, chisel, and various other tools. You will carry out repairs to fire doors as requested on a rota system, assemble and join wooden parts such as doors, window frames and shelves.
You will have good health and safety knowledge and a Diploma, NVQ, City & Guilds or Apprenticeship in carpentry. A Full UK driving licence required for cross site working

Purpose of the job:

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

- To be skilled in measurements, cutting, shaping of wooden materials using tapes, saws, chisel, and various other tools.
Key Tasks
- To carry out repairs to fire doors as requested on a rotor system.
- To assemble and join wooden parts such as doors, window frames and shelves.
- To use of nails, screws, drills in the coupling of structural components.
- To join woodwork by means of adhesion employing substances such as epoxy resin and polyurethane.
- To be able to build structures.
- To undertake structural repairs to worn out and damaged parts.
- To always ensure adherence to Health and Safety legislation.
- To use School vehicles and carry out with use of an iPad vehicle checks daily in a safe and reasonable way, always ensuring the safety of vehicle users. And others
- To check that fuel, oil, water, lights and tyres of School vehicles are in working order prior to use and to ensure vehicles are left clean after use. Any faults or accidents to be reported through the transport app or the transport manager.
- To respect the surrounding and adjacent buildings and their fabric and finishes and ensure that the effect of the work is minimised on the other occupants of the school. Additionally, when leaving the works during the day and at the end of the working day, to ensure that works are left safe to ensure that other users of the building, including pupils, cannot be harmed by the building works.
