Job Description
JOB TITLE: Domiciliary Care Worker (based in Leicester, United Kingdom)
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Domiciliary Care Services Manager/Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITES:
To provide excellent and optimum care to our Service Users to enable them to lead an independent lifestyle as much as possible. Abbey Support & Services will involve a programme of personal care and support with community access that is personalised for each Service User in the form of a Care Plan. Care/support worker duties will be to support each Service User with their needs and choices (as described below), in doing so will ensure that the Service User’s privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
1.1 Personal Care:
· Dressing and undressing/preparing the Service User for community activities.
· Washing/ showering/ personal grooming/ oral hygiene.
· Hair Care (washing/brushing)
· Toileting/ all aspects of personal hygiene.
· Continence management.
· Catheter care.
· Care of pressure sores (under appropriate supervision)
· Assisting with the use of aids to Daily Living/ Rehabilitation Aids (as required)
· Helping with rehabilitation programmes as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.
· Day/ evening/ night sitting services (as required)
· Interaction with Service User’s interests and hobbies
1.2 Medicines Management – assisting service user to take prescribed medication.
1.3 Dietary Care:
· Preparation of snacks and meals according to the Service User’s likes and dislikes.
· Being mindful of specific dietary requirements and preparations.
· Assisting with feeding as required.
1.4 Domestic/ Household Services:
· General cleaning duties, to include cleaning/ dusting/ vacuuming.
· Bed making.
· Clearing refuse and rubbish.
· Laundering/ handwashing/ ironing.
· Fuel management
· Shopping and the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting.
· Personal services, planning (birthdays/ anniversaries etc)
· Democratic rights, (voting cards etc)
1.5 Community Access:
· To support the Service User access their local community, in social, recreational, vocational and educational activities.
2. To conform to all the services, policies, and procedures laid down by Abbey Support and Services in respect of compliance and carrying out care duties in an appropriate and efficient manner as well as adhering to administrative aspects of the business, as relevant.
3. To adhere to all Service User delivery plans and risk assessments.
4. To participate as directed by the domiciliary care Service Manager/ Supervisor in induction training and regular in-service Training programmes.
5. To maintain accurate, concise and timely records of service user care diary sheets and employee mileage sheets on the app system (and manual where required).
6. To participate in Staff, Team and Quality Management Review Meetings as directed by management.
7. To undertake ALL training stipulated by management.
8. To report back to the Domiciliary Care Services Manager/ Supervisor on any aspect of service user care which he/she feels warrants investigations or urgent action.
9. To participate in reviews of the service user’s delivery planning as requested.
