Care Support Worker
Salary Scale 16-18 (£20,661 - £21,491, plus unsocial enhancement for weekend working)
Full-time (37 hours), permanent contract
Shifts: between 8 am and 8 pm, on a rota basis, with every other weekend off
Where; Come and join our fabulous team at St James Care based in Woolston, Southampton.
The job in a nutshell; Supporting vulnerable people overcome challenges in their lives that prevent them from leading a fulfilling and rewarding life.
The work is very varied with no two days being the same and includes:
- Supporting new residents to settle into the care home, promote positivity by encouraging residents to take part in the activities on offer within the home.
- Encourage residents to exercise their right to choose how they structure their day (i.e. what time they get up, go to bed, have their meals etc) and help them to live their daily lives as fully and as independently as possible.
- Providing personal support to residents in every aspect of their daily living, including dressing, washing, bathing, toileting and feeding as required, respecting their dignity and privacy.
The Ideal Candidate; It is important to be you! We will require to have the skills and experience and/or understanding of working with adults with alcohol and substance issues.
- A calm and caring personality.
- Having an empathetic nature is essential in order to understand the needs of the client.
- A can do attitude!
The important bits;
- You must be willing to work towards a Care Certificate and/or be willing to work towards Diploma Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care, as this qualification is an essential requirement of the post.
- The ability to stay motivated is key, some of our residents in the care home can be challenging!
- You will need to be able to document and record information using electronic systems.
