FULL TIME & PART TIME HOURS AVAILABLE

We are seeking Care Support Workers, full-time & part-time, to work on Ward D8 the Surgical Assessment Unit. D8 has 18 beds & 6 assessment trollies. The service is taking referrals via local GPs, the Emergency Department, Tameside Hospital & Macclesfield Hospital. You will be working on 2 wards & an excellent opportunity to gain experience across both wards. Both wards are very busy & a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of care to provide high quality, compassionate care for patients & families, & ensure an efficient service is delivered. We are looking for enthusiastic & motivated people. A caring nature, good communication skills & a willingness to learn & develop are essential. You will deliver fundamental care to patients including assisting with personal hygiene & toileting needs, feeding & mobility.

Excellent strong sense of teamwork and commitment to maintaining high standards of care to provide high quality, compassionate care for our patients and their families and ensure that efficient service delivery is maintained.

To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

To carry out ward clerical and IT tasks, as required.

To carry out routine administrative/telephone related tasks.

To communicate effectively when giving/receiving verbal and written information.

Under the supervision of a registered nurse to assist with patient care activities.

To maintain confidentiality of patient information.

To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the ward area.

To carry out duties as required, meeting all aspects of ward catering.

To carry out routine household management/maintenance activities.

To maintain patient dignity.

Work closely with other healthcare professionals in order to provide patient’s with exceptional care.

To organise and plan own day to day workload or activities in order to meet the demands of the job role.

To actively contribute to the efficient management of ward resources, including ordering/monitoring of ward supplies.

To support new or less experienced work colleagues to adapt to the workplace.

To participate in training and development activities that are relevant to the job role.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

On the 9th November 2021 the Government announced new regulations which we anticipate will come into force on 1 April 2022, requiring people who conduct Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated activity in public (NHS) or independent sector health and social care settings in England, to have received two doses of a Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approved COVID-19 vaccine unless exempt.

Please be aware that provided these regulations do come into force as currently planned, this role will be affected and as such, successful candidate(s) will be required to show proof that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as part of the pre-employment check process. If you are unable to prove that you have been fully vaccinated (i.e. that you have received two doses of an approved vaccine) please note we will be unable to proceed with your application and any offers of employment made will be withdrawn.

Reasons for exemption:
Clinically exempt - Some individuals may have grounds not to have the vaccine for clinical reasons. Should you be medically exempt from receiving the vaccination you will be asked to provide written confirmation of this issued by a medical practitioner as part of the pre-employment check process in order that this can be given due consideration.

Exempt due to a short-term medical condition (which is an option that some pregnant women may choose to take; for pregnant women the exemption expires 16 weeks post-partum and so will allow them to become fully vaccinated after birth) Taken part or is currently taking part in a clinical trial for a COVID-19 vaccine - The registered provider will need to evidence that workers are exempt from having the completed course of an approved COVID-19 vaccination due to participation in a clinical trial.

Vaccinated abroad

Individuals who are vaccinated abroad will be required to provide evidence of their vaccination status and, where necessary, have a top-up dose with a UK authorised vaccine consistent with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) guidance on vaccines.

Proof of vaccination status may be provided using the NHS Covid Pass service via the following routes – the NHS App the NHS COVID Pass letter downloaded as a pdf the NHS website – NHS.uk by providing your NHS number so we can check against NIMS/NIVS system Please note that the NHS appointment card cannot be used as proof of vaccination status.
