Age UK is currently recruiting for an exciting new part-time position, Care Service Manager, within the Gifted Housing Service team.
Working as part of a small established team you will manage and support care coordinators across England and Wales to deliver a professional care co-ordination service to our donors; helping us fulfil our commitment to support our service users to stay living at home independently as long as possible.
This is a hybrid opportunity, a blend of home-based and office working, including regular travel. The linked office for this role is in London and you would be expected to attend the office 1-2 days per month. In addition, there will be regular travel to work and attend meetings across all our office locations, including the Gifted Housing Service office based in Radstock. We estimate approximately 3-4 working days per month with occasional overnight stays.
The work pattern for this position is Tuesday-Friday, 30 hours per week.
Salary is advertised as full-time equivalent 35 hours per week. Salary will be pro-rata for 30 hours per week.

Must haves:
- Extensive experience as a social work (or similar) manager, supporting and managing dispersed staff to deliver an excellent service to older people, particularly with complex needs.
- Strong commitment to supporting older people to stay living independently.
- The ability to work creatively and collaboratively to find solutions for older people.
- Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to negotiate, advocate, motivate and challenge.
- The confidence and experience to act as lead on health and social care within the team.
- Self-motivation and the ability to be a team player with a flexible approach to work.
- Good knowledge of relevant care legislation, safeguarding, mental capacity and data protection issues in the care field.
- Understanding of statutory benefits/care funding.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements relevant to lone working and care provision.
- The ability to work under pressure, prioritise, make decisions, organise and plan your workload autonomously, manage individual projects to meet performance indicators and deadlines.
- Strong commitment to promoting equality and valuing diversity in practice.
- Access to a car for travel to visit service users.
Great to haves:
- Experience of financial management and budget control, including the preparation and monitoring of care budgets.
- Able to contribute to business and resource plans and associated risk management processes.
- Ability to develop and implement quality systems, policy and procedure and recording systems to monitor service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Experience of housing needs of older people, including adaptations and assistive technology.
