Equine Care Supervisor- Full Time Permanent Position
Working an average of 42.5 hours per week on a rolling rota, including every other weekend 8am-4.30pm . As part of the role you will complete to occasional stable yard night checks 8.30-9pm.
Horses and Ponies Protection Association are seeking a competent equestrian to supervise and enhance the existing team of equine welfare specialists, you will work alongside the Equine Manager to deliver the Charity’s mission to ‘Strive to Give a Second Chance to Abused, Neglected and Unwanted Equine through Rescue, Rehabilitation, Rehoming and Education.’
The successful candidate will have a passion for working in the equine welfare industry and have the skills to confidently supervise the work of the Equine Care Team alongside the Equine Manager. The knowledge and experience needed to successfully rescue and rehabilitate equines of varying ages and abilities at Shores Hey Farm is essential. Please note that the horses and ponies in the charities’ care are rescue cases so therefore will need an experienced handler that is able to gain the trust of feral, unhandled horses and ponies. An open-mindedness to using a variety of equine training techniques is essential.
This is a varied, hands-on, fast paced role, which requires excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and an ability to perform well under pressure. Previous experience in a supervisory, head groom or assistant management role is desirable and a flair for customer care.
You will need to be open to training, essential to the role and willing to learn. BHS Stage 1 or an equivalent qualification is essential. BHS Stage 2 or equivalent qualification is desirable.
