Are you already in employment but feel unsatisfied? Do you feel unappreciated? Like no one listens? Like no one cares about what you need?
Description
Located just outside of Longtown, Virginia Lodge Care Home is a family owned and run care home, established in 1990.
We’re different than most homes – we’re a small business and we care about our employees. It’s what has brought us so much success over the years. We don’t have a board of directors demanding their salaries. The management team is small, and we’re hands on. This means we’ve a supportive environment, where good teamwork is apparent in all that we achieve.
Experience is preferred, but not essential as full training is given. If you’re committed to care work and want to develop your career, then there’s opportunity for that – with many carers over the years moving up the ranks into senior positions. We allow time in everyone’s day to learn, train, and grow within their roles.
What to expect:
- Following company policies and procedures, as well as national legislation and frameworks. Working in line with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers,
- A high expectation to deliver the best standards of care,
- Working closely with a very experienced and established team in a supportive environment,
- Assisting our elderly residents with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing and eating,
- Helping to maintain accurate records,
- Ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for everyone,
- Undertaking ongoing training and career development,
- Generally promoting our residents’ independence, choice, dignity, and respect by delivering the very best standards of care.

- Flexible hours to suit your needs,
- Accurate contracts that reflect your working hours – there’s no zero hours contracts here, we treat our employees and the hard work they do with respect,
- A set workplace – we won’t surprise any new locations on you, we’re one home in one location,
- The time to deliver quality care to residents in their own home environment,
- The opportunity to grow in a supportive environment – we’re not a big bustling company, we’re a small team with family values and we care about our employees and what they need to excel,
- We provide extensive training, we will give you first aid, moving and handling, infection control, fire safety, just to name a few. We invest a phenomenal amount into our employees – it’s one of the things that makes us so fantastic to work for!
- Competitive salary, bonus schemes and incentives,
- Rewards and gifts,
- A safe, clean, Covid-free environment.
Working Hours and Location
Right now, we’re focused on looking for people who can work night shifts. It’s not that we won’t consider those who can only work during the day, it’s just where our focus needs to be right now.
Night shifts run 8pm – 8am (12 hours) or 10pm – 8am (10 hours), depending on what works for you. We know it can be tough on your bodies to work during the night so we provide an additional salary enhancement for those who are up to the task.
Shift patterns are what you need them to be – we like to work on a fortnightly rota, with employees working alternate weekends, just to keep things fair for everybody, but we consider ALL circumstances. We’re aware that our employees have their own lives outside of their work and need to maintain a good balance for their own wellbeing.
We’re located just outside of Longtown, CA6 5TL.
If you’re driving, we’re a straight run from Langholm, Carlisle, and Brampton. We’re on Old Road which is a continuation of Mill Street, once you’re on Mill Street keep driving, the road changes into a country lane, and we’re on the left – you can’t miss us.
The nearest bus stop is approximately 1 mile away. If walking isn’t your thing – our location isn’t right for you.
