Springfield House Care Home is a well established EMI Residential Care Home in Houghton le Spring, dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our residents. We are looking to expand our team, we are looking for care assistants who share our values of high standards of care.
Our day shift is 8am to 8pm, 3 or 4 shifts per week (depending on candidates preference.)
Our night shift is 8pm to 8am, 3 or 4 shift’s per week (depending on candiates preference.)
We also offer 8am- 2pm shifts.
Please state on application if you are applying for day shift or night shift.
Hourly rate is dependent on Diploma Level, and we encourage personal development to reflect your rate of pay. NVQ's will be provided by the company should you wish to progress.
1.1 Reviews and becomes familiar with the Care Plan for the Resident. Assists Residents with personal hygiene requirements; helps with bathing in bed or bathroom; assists in the care of pressure areas, skin, teeth, mouth, hair and nails; assists with the positioning and movement of immobile Residents in accordance with the manual handling policy.
1.2 Collects specimens as required and as directed.
1.3 Assists Residents with physical activity, as needed, e.g. dressing, undressing, walking, sitting, passive exercises.
1.4 Positions Residents correctly in bed or in a chair, referring at all times to the Risk Assessment for guidance in accordance with the Home’s Manual Handling Policy.
1.5 Assists Residents to eat and drink, as needed, being aware of nutritional needs and cultural requirements; measures and records fluid intake when necessary; reports any unexpected inability or desire to eat or drink.
1.6 Ensures that any changes to a Resident’s condition are communicated to a senior without delay.
1.7 Supports the Senior (or other Competent Person) in delivering care to a dying Resident, offering support to relatives and friends.
1.8 Assists in identifying and meeting the social and recreational needs of Residents.
1.9 Record all care giving tasks and any other interactions with residents on the computerised system. This can be on the Desk Top Computer, Laptop or Tablet

Part-time hours: 24- 33 per week
Salary: £10.60-£11.70 per hour
