Job description
Purpose of Position
- To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents an a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence
- To help in the care of the residents physical environment and the general day-to-day running of the home.
Principal responsibilities
- Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet
- Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence, help in use and care of aids and personal equipment
- Care for residents temporarily sick and needing, for example minor dressings.
- Help care for residents who are dying.
- Help in promotion of mental and physical activity of resident through talking to them, sharing with them in any activity such as reading, writing and hobbies
- Make and change beds, tidy rooms, empty commodes and do cleaning which maintains cleanliness of home including hovering, polishing, cleaning bathrooms and toilets, mopping floors and so on
- Inspect, launder, mend, wash and iron residents clothing.
- Set tables and trays, serve meals, feed residents who need help. Prepare meals and wash up, tidy and clear dining room.
- Answer nurse calls, the door and the telephone promptly, greet visitors. Always being polite and respectful at all times.
- Read and write reports, take part in staff and residents meetings and in any in-house training and distance training courses
- To read and abide by the homes policies and procedures.
- Carry out hourly checks on all service users.
- Such other duties as may be required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 35 per week
Salary: £9.50 per hour
