Job description
Patient Care: Provide direct care and support to patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This includes assisting with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Medication Assistance: Administer medications to patients as prescribed by healthcare professionals, following proper procedures and protocols. This may involve ensuring the correct dosage, documenting medication administration, and monitoring any potential side effects.
Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly monitor and record patients' vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate. Report any significant changes or abnormalities to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients with activities such as eating, mobility, toileting, and transferring from one place to another. This may involve using assistive devices and following proper lifting and transferring techniques to ensure patient safety.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient care activities, including daily progress notes, incident reports, and any other required paperwork. This documentation helps to ensure continuity of care and provides information for future reference.
Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team. This includes listening to patients' concerns, providing emotional support, and relaying important information to appropriate individuals.
Infection Control: Adhere to proper infection control protocols to minimize the risk of spreading infections. This includes following hand hygiene practices, using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients.
Assistance with Rehabilitation: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists or occupational therapists, to support patients' rehabilitation goals. This may involve assisting patients with exercises, mobility aids, and therapeutic activities.
Patient Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, preferences, and dignity are respected. This involves actively listening to their needs, addressing their concerns, and communicating any issues to the appropriate personnel.
Teamwork: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and support staff, to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care. This includes participating in team meetings, sharing relevant information, and contributing to a positive work environment.
