Job description
Is your career in care as rewarding as it could be? Are you frustrated with unrealistic schedules that leave no time for the people you support?
Why not join MacIntyre? You will work with the same people regularly and have the opportunity to build long term life changing relationships.
We can offer part-time 15, 22.5 or 30 hours per week and full-time 37.5 hours per week, what would suit you best? No experience necessary we will train you.
We offer a range of shifts:
7:00am - 2:30pm
2:30pm - 9:30pm
7:30 am- 8:00pm
You'll join our friendly team of Support Workers at one of our small, homely supported living services in Bursledon which is home to six people aged 36 to 63, who each have a learning disability. A lot of the fun happens on the move, so you must be a driver with a manual licence. Don't worry you won't be racing between appointments. Your ability to drive unlocks the opportunities for them to do the things they really enjoy.
So what will you be doing?
You might support David* to paint a picture and now he's planning to show it to his family via Zoom.
Susan* enjoys going to the cinema, she especially loves Disney, but she needs a bit of support in taking the bus to get there. You can tell how much these trips mean to her when she's telling everyone about the film for days afterwards.
Working with the same people everyday you really get the chance to build a relationship. Your colleagues will tell you it's a very rewarding job where no two days are the same.
Another nice feeling is handing over your Blue Light discount card and making savings at the checkout. This is just one of the many ways we like to reward our employees.
Working with people like David and Susan can be a lot of fun and you don't need any experience as we will train you. Some people rely less than others on verbal communication, so you'll become great at picking up on small non-verbal cues. You'll discover that every tiny thing you do has an impact, and when you get it right, you'll know you got it right: you'll get a chuckle or a smile, you'll see someone's body relax or their eyes light up.
" I started a career in domiciliary care as I wanted to help people. It was frustrating having to walk away from people who needed my support. I'm glad I have discovered MacIntyre and the chance to go home happy at the end of a shift knowing that I have made a difference" Feedback at a recent MacIntyre careers event
