Care Assistant

Reporting to: Senior Care/Deputy Manager/Home Manager

Responsible to: Home Manager

ROLE

1. To undertake the care of residents, under the provision of senior staff.

2. To work as part of a team to provide a professional caring service whilst maintaining a high standard of resident care.

  • To participate in the working rota’s including evenings, weekends and Bank holidays as necessary for the efficient provision of care for all residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual at all times.

KEY TASKS

1. To assist in the maintenance of the comfort and happiness of the residents through kind personal attention and consideration.

2. To perform the role, within the framework of the residents individual plan of care, whilst preserving the dignity, confidence and wellbeing of the residents.

3. Observing the general needs of the residents, record and reporting to senior staff.

4. To improve residents wellbeing by interacting and participating in activities.

5. Observing, recording and reporting any change noted in residents condition, appearance or attitude to senior staff.

6. Uphold the confidentiality of information and records regarding residents and the home.

7. To welcome and ensure the comfort and consideration of relatives and friends.

8. Attend in service training courses where required to comply with Cartref policy.

9. Keep up to date with fire precautions and be fully conversant with fire drills and evacuation procedures.

10. Taking all steps to avoid accidents and hazards.

11. Ensuring safe care of residents’ possessions.

12. Observing the safety of residents while being attended to eg. Walking, bathing etc.

13. Follow set procedure for reporting of incidents and care of equipment e.g. reporting defects.

14. To be able to adapt to the changing needs within the home environment.

  • To present a pleasant and groomed image at all times.

Health & Safety

To be conversant with and comply with the Cartref Policy concerning the 1974 Health & Safety Act, the 1994 Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act and any subsequent legislation, thus ensuring a safer environment for the residents and staff at the Cartref Homes.

Terms & Conditions of Service

The Terms & Conditions should be read and signed at the commencement of employment.

Cartref reserves the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time according to the needs of the business.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Full-time
Part-time hours: 21-35 per week

Salary: £10.00 per hour

All care is undertaken in PPE - provided by employer.
Lateral flow tests to be taken 2 x per week - provided by employer

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Cardiff, CF23 5NP: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
