Assistant Canine Trainer/Instructor (1 year contract with potential to extend)
This role will see you being responsible for the continuation training of our Explosive Detection Dog Teams, and the assessment, selection, and initial training of Explosive Detection Dogs. You will be required to be fully conversant with the National Canine Training Accreditation Scheme Private Security (NCTAS P) Explosive Detection Dogs to ensure the canine teams meet their required training hours prior to assessments.
You will be required to complete detailed training records and generate corrective training plans to ensure all dogs meet the Home Office standards.
You will require a strong understanding of handling training samples and prevention of cross contamination, to ensure correct training is being conducted and for the longevity of samples. Knowledge of the correct storing and transport of specific samples is necessary.
You will liaise with other team members, stakeholders, and outside agencies on a weekly basis, providing regular and accurate updates on the team’s performance. You will be fully supported by an experienced, professional.
Reports to – Senior Training Manager
Place of Work - Our Training Centre is located in Farndish, but there is a requirement to travel, with the possibility of overnight stays.
Salary: £32,000pa
Essential:
Proven experience of training Explosive Detection Dogs to exacting standards.
The ability to work autonomously.
Computer literate.
Excellent communication skills.
Initiative-taking.
Full UK driving license, no more than 6 points.
5-year checkable history.
Ability to pass a Criminal record check (CRC) to the required standard.
Desirable:
Prior Police, Military or Government Agency dog training qualification.
Role profile:
Conduct Continuation Training for NCTAS P Accredited Teams.
Provide written and verbal reports outlining training needs to the Director Canine Services and the Senior Training manager.
Ensure health and welfare of dogs is maintained to company standard.
Maintain and ensure safe handling of training samples.
Drive company vehicles as required (Company vehicle and fuel card supplied).
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments as required.
Maintain vehicle, equipment, and project equipment to specific standards.
