The opportunity
You will be instrumental in helping to provide a compassionate, proactive and dynamic campus protection service to staff, students and visitors alike at Cardiff Metropolitan University. You will be front and centre dealing with a wide variety of issues impacting the operations of the University and your empathetic and caring attitude will be forefront in your duties. You will be the face of Cardiff Metropolitan University to those in need and will be experienced in dealing with challenging scenarios with an eye for people at the centre of any response.
- To ensure the well-being of staff, students and visitors to campus and to assist those in need.
- To monitor the security of the Campus using CCTV/digital surveillance equipment.
- To respond promptly to any alarm activation and to co-ordinate evacuation procedures with representatives at the scene.
- To utilise technical platforms to provide intelligence on threats posed to the university community.

- Demonstrate high levels of integrity and reliability.

- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Be able to act on own initiative in case of an emergency.
- Be flexible in approach to all duties.
- Be capable of completing electronic log entries.
- Be able to cope with enquiries in a courteous and informed manner.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Be confident in dealing with Information Technology (in particular but not limited to CCTV systems, alarm and radio systems and the Microsoft Office suite of applications).
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be capable of completing and disseminating accurate and timely reports.
