Campaigns and Public Affairs Manager
£38,500 - £45,500 plus benefits (Work level 6A)
12-month fixed-term contract
Manchester or London, with regular travel between the two and travel to attend external events

We’re looking for a campaigns and public affairs manager to join us and help deliver our vision of ‘Co-operating for a Fairer World’. And as part of that mission, your primary focus in this role will be to provide public affairs support to our Funeralcare business. We’ll also look to you to take a lead on responding to a wide range of issues raised with the Co-op by politicians, and develop relevant networks. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your skills whilst making a real impact in our business and the communities we serve.
What you’ll do
- lead on supporting our Funeralcare business on issues linked to bereavement and quality standards.
- lead the development and delivery of various advocacy plans
- engage with the Government on one or more public affairs priorities to support Co-op’s priorities
- identify and engage with key partners to develop relevant networks
- identify risks and opportunities
- make sure we have effective engagement with Government departments both directly and through trade associations/bodies
- ensure that elected representatives who contact the Co-op receive timely responses to their enquiries
This role would suit people who have
- a solid understanding of our parliamentary system, government, and wider political landscape
- excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- a talent for building positive relationships with internal and external partners
- a keen interest in political discourse and societal issues
- the ability to articulate and represent Co-op’s stand in a compelling and engaging way
