Job description

Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner Link Worker, Bury CAMHS

Do you want to be part of an innovative, dynamic organisation that is committed to delivering the best care by the best people? We are looking to appoint people who are as passionate as we are about high quality care.

As part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health partnership in Bury, the post holder will undertake a wide range of duties to develop support and make strong links with partner agencies, including local schools. The Link Worker will provide a key facilitation role in developing collaborative working between CAMHS and local schools/colleges. The main aim of this role is to provide levels of support and advice that will lead to a reduction in the need to refer to CAMHS but ensuring those children and young people with the most serious needs have easy access to mental health services.

The post holder will also be responsible supporting the management of a new Single Point of Access enabling parents, teachers, education psychology services, school support staff and other professionals across all children’s and young people’s services to get easy access to advice, support and urgent care, where necessary

The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent understanding of the delivery of the child and adolescent mental health services link role and have the ability to engage with children and young people and families and to develop pathways into third sector and partner agencies.

The post holder will also have experience in screening referrals and decision making in terms of appropriate pathways, along with excellent risk management skills. They will also have duty responsibilities as part of the role.

The Service:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, flexibility and responsiveness ensuring safe and timely care for young people and their families.

The successful candidate will join a busy multi-disciplinary CAMHS team which includes nurses, psychologists, social workers and psychiatrists. You will have the benefit of being sometimes being co-located with partner services for children and families. A key focus of the service leadership team will be implementing transformation that ensures timely access to high quality care. Our vision is for our local community to be well equipped to support the young people of Bury to grow up with good emotional health and wellbeing.

We work closely with our partners in education, children’s services and the 3rdsector to achieve the recently developed ambitious Local Transformation Plan for CAMHS services. This plan provides us with the guide and resources to begin delivering our vision of having CAMHS workers available in new ways, and working closely with children’s universal and targeted services in each of our locality areas.

If you enjoy working intensively with young people who present with a variety of different mental health and social needs, and you can manage complex cases and systems, we would welcome your application. You would have access to regular team and individual supervision and we would support your training needs.

The support and wellbeing of the workforce are the foundations on which we grow our services to ensure children and young people receive the best care possible. We have strong links with our local Universities and are active in the North West CYP IAPT collaborative and the Greater Manchester iThrive programme. You will receive robust clinical supervision to help you achieve the high standards of care we aspire to deliver. Your development is our development and we will invest in you and your future.
