Calday Grange Grammar School is looking for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work with and supervise individuals and/or groups of students under the direction of the teacher. Inclusive of specific individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all students and assistance and support in classroom.

What will the apprentice be doing?

• Support the classroom teacher with their responsibility for the development and education of pupils
• Supervising class activities
• Assist in the development of pupils’ learning, the provision of care and the management of pupils’ behaviour under the direction of teaching staff/senior colleagues
• Helping students who have Special Educational Needs and might need extra support
• Committed to supporting the school vision, mission and values
• Able to work as part of a team as well as individually
• Willing to implement teachers planning and take an active role in preparation
• Follow and adhere to all college policies and procedures including the GDPR policy, equality and diversity policy, health and safety policy, safeguarding children in education - child protection policy
• Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers referring any difficult or contentious issues as appropriate

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities
• Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
• Become fully adept in supporting teachers with the planning of activities, as well as creating own activity plans
• Amplify knowledge of safeguarding and emergency procedures
• Understand legislation with regard to confidentiality, data protection, and information sharing
• Level 2 Functional skills Maths and English (if required)

Expected duration;

16 months

Working week;

Monday to Friday, shifts to be confirmed

30 hours per week
