Job Title: Café Associate – Rise London
Salary: £30,750
As a Café Associate, you will engage with our customers through conversation as you setup and prepare live food and drink experiences around the campus for them to enjoy. Your role will see you be part mixologist, barista, popup server, room host and so much more! You are as passionate about the service and experiences that you deliver as you are about awesome food and drink.
Purpose
To Welcome all guests and make them feel happy they came. Prepare and serve hot or cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, and teas.
o Serve ready to eat foods such as pastries and bagels at breakfast and sandwiches and salads at lunch. Always serve guests with a caring and happy attitude.
o Support the Café Manager and Events Associate to ensure event food and drink experiences are set up and broken down seamlessly.
o Assist with the preparation, presentation, service delivery of the catering requirement of the site to the company’s standard and the client’s satisfaction.
o Have a flexible approach with the day-to-day business need and support team when needed
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the food and drink offer is the first choice for our members and event attendees
- Receive, process, prepare and deliver food and drink orders
- Keep the service and back of house areas in a clean and safe condition
- Stay on top of trends and discuss these with your manager
- Know what is on offer inside and out, and be able to make informed recommendations to our clients
- Pre-empt the needs of our customers and create meaningful and memorable experiences
- Keep our team, visitors’ and clients safe with our safety-first mentality, using the safety tools available to you
- Oversee the standard and quality of all food & drink; you and the team will serve as the final quality check for everything that is served and delivered to our customers.
- Keep your ear close to the ground! Tell us what the customer wants and how we can keep our clients happy and coming back.
- Support the management team to be audit ready at all times and achieve the highest possible standard, eg finance, HS, FS, internal inspections, etc
- Drive a ‘One Team’ Culture, provision of an integrated service.
- Carry out any reasonable management request
- Relieve and assist in other areas within the unit or other establishments.
Event Activities
- Assist as directed with all aspects of food service; ordering, preparation, and stock control.
- Ensure all counters, and tables are set up prior to service time
- Ensure all different services are all stocked up and in functioning order
- To assist with basic food preparation
- Ensure constant replenishment throughout service
- Ensure attractive presentation of food throughout service
- Ensure the service area are clean and tidy at all times
- Ensure service temperature checks are recorded
- Clean and clear down all food service areas
- Ensure the cleaning schedule is followed in accordance to C.O.S.H.H regulations
- Familiarise yourself with the menu/ items you are serving, so that you may deal with customer enquiries professionally.
- Set up hospitality trays, trolleys and rooms in accordance with the customer requirements.
- Clear down the pantry and stock area thoroughly before going off duty
Health & Food Safety
- Maintain a Healthy, Safe, and Secure Environment and ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Food hygiene legislation.
- Ensure the timely reporting of all risks. Support the proactive completion of corrective action plans emanating from site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Report to your line manager any risks, hazards and PPE shortfalls
- Ensure that you are following recipes as required, to protect customers at all times including those with allergies
- Carry out checks to ensure compliance on all labelling (FOH and BOH) and menus

Financial
o Provide input/support to identify sales growth and cost saving initiatives to work towards financial targets
o Following recipes as required, and/or reporting any challenges
o Carry out regular stock checks and other financial control procedures as required
Infrequent Duties
o Deputize in the absence of supervisory positions
o Assist at any special duties or functions which may fall outside of normal working hours
o To attend things such as courses and training sessions, competitions, trade shows, competitor reviews, as and when required
o Relieve and assist in other areas within the unit or other establishments as required
Skills, Experience and Attributes
- 2 years’ experience in a range of premium high-end food and drink destinations
- Previous hospitality and event experience
- Must be able to identify and resolve issues and challenges to meet and exceed the expectations of our client
- SCA Brewing or Sensory Professional qualifications desirable.
