Job Description

The purpose of the role is to be part of thr wider workplace design team and develop an innovative design service within the Digital Workplace. This role holder will ensure the team produces high levels of design quality and will also actively be involved in design project delivery themselves. The role holder will have a keen understanding of the impact technology in the workplace, and how design work can enhance the Connected Workplace's product range within our client base.

Customer Service

  • Ensure that the customer is at the heart of what we do.
  • Produce high levels of design delivery and standards across Mitie's account portfolio.
  • Develop and manage a Workplace design team to grow the Digital Workplace client footprint.
  • Maintain management oversight and ownership of all ongoing and future design projects.
  • Review junior designers' work to ensure high quality and technical growth.
  • Work with key stakeholders in developing and creating new innovative workspaces that reflect the client's vision.
  • Be a design lead and POC for live sites, ensuring consistent high quality of information is provided as requested throughout the construction stage.
  • Ensure design work completed by Digital Workplace has accurate compliance documentation ensuring all documentation is regularly updated and maintained.
  • Ensure design adherence to Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures on site and to MITIE's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain client brand consistency throughout all our workplace projects
  • Assist in coordinating or carrying out space surveys as required.
  • Maintain and update relevant space drawings using AutoCAD or Revit.
  • To be flexible in approach to work patterns and systems to maintain the standards required. Be prepared to deputise for the Workplace Solutions team members.

Communication

  • Coordinate design activity on site with the client by engaging with the delegated champions for the business.
  • Develop market relationships with key furniture houses, attend innovative design open days, seminars and activities to build a design network.
  • Meet regularly with the Workplace Solutions Director to update on any changes/challenges you may be facing in respect of design delivery across accounts.
  • Support the Workplace Solutions Director to advocate our service and penetrate new accounts across Mitie's portfolio.
  • Understand the need for confidentiality when undertaking specific tasks and ensure that this is maintained.
  • Engage and manage with all MITIE and third party partners to ensure a collaborative and efficient approach and a swift response to all service requests.
  • Contribute to regular client facing project meetings with timely and relevant project updates.

Qualifications

  • Degree educated in design / architectural field
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • The ability to demonstrate a professional customer focused approach to work at all times
  • The ability to demonstrate a customer focused and “Can Do” attitude are fundamental requirements
  • Numerate and analytical skills and an aptitude for creative problem solving
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self-disciplined and able to work on own initiative
  • Attention to detail, standards focussed and methodical & organised
  • Significant prior experience in commercial workplace projects
  • Established experience using AutoCAD as core software
  • Production of graphic presentations, including 3D renderings, for client presentations
  • Preparation of construction documents, including plans, elevations, details and specifications
  • Lead management of a design team and client communication
  • Excellent graphic and visualisation skills to communicate design ideas
  • Computer literacy, competent with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Office365.

  • An operational understanding of facilities maintenance, both hard and soft services, and building services within a client focused environment
  • Demonstrable experience in a customer facing or customer service role with a strong customer service background
