An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Wiltshire Council’s ICT department working in the Projects & Programme function delivering new solutions for Wiltshire Council.
About the role
A Senior Development Operations Engineer (IHD) develops new solutions to business problems using C# .Net and other programming languages. This includes not only the traditional deployments within IIS but also deployment into Azure using App services and other cloud components.
We are beginning a journey towards more agile delivery of technology, and you will work flexibly with the team on a wide variety of different technologies.
You will work within a specific product team, alongside other DevOps Engineers specialising in software development towards a roadmap defined by the product owner, working in sprints to deliver a product set delivering business outcomes. Engaging and being an active member in sprint planning sessions, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
The technologies you will use will include:
- .Net Core and Framework using the C# languages
- Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Azure DevOps including Azure pipelines
- Blazor
- MVC
- SOAP and Web API REST services
About you
You will have significant hands-on experience in the configuration and deployment of C#/.Net applications in an enterprise environment alongside a willingness to learn more, at pace.
We will be deploying more technology using Azure (App services, azure functions, ARM templates) in the coming years and any knowledge you already possess would be a significant advantage.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently and adept at understanding new technology reviewing available documentation, and communicating with other engineers to improve understanding.
You must have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to manage multiple planned and unplanned tasks.
