We can provide a superior foundation for building a professional career – a place for people to learn, to achieve and grow. A philosophy that balances personal lifestyles, perspectives and needs is an important part of our culture.

The Team
The Enterprise Application Infrastructure group builds reusable solutions, libraries and frameworks used in systems across the bank. We provide consultation and advice to development teams and set firmwide strategy on application development. Our team is full of naturally curious, technical individuals who like to dig beneath the surface to understand how things work. We encourage people to generate ideas and lead initiatives and find that people who enjoy solving complex problems flourish in our team.

Where will you be working?
This role is a great opportunity to work in a technically challenging environment and deliver immediate far-reaching value, as the products developed by EAI are used across the firm. Based in our London office, the role benefits from the support of an established team with a wide breadth of technical knowledge, and provides vast opportunities for growth, training, and future leadership.

What will you be doing?
You will be designing and developing C++ libraries in collaboration with the global team.
You will identify, experiment with, and evaluate the technologies which will form the basis of the firm’s next-generation systems.
You will collaborate with internal clients across many development teams on requirements, development and improving the performance of their applications.
You will identify current technology gaps and potential solutions, with a focus on developer productivity.
You will maintain and supporting existing C++ libraries while considering vectors to modernisation.
You will promote best practices in your own work, within your team and the wider firm C++ community.

What we’re looking for:
A detail-oriented and enthusiastic developer to design, build and integrate a scalable, reliable low-latency networking stack in modern C++, acting as a foundation to applications across the firm.
Prior experience in or knowledge of the financial industry is not required; candidates from software and telecommunications companies are welcome to apply.

Skills that will help you in the role:
Experience developing modern C++ infrastructure in any industry.
A collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
