The Role/Profile
This role would suit someone with substantial Buying experience. You will have accountability for the total Paper department within the Buying team. You will be responsible for ensuring your supply base and the product range is optimised, proactively using data and analysis to maximise performance for the department. This is all underpinned by driving sales, profitability and share growth to support the overall Ocado Retail strategy and goals. You should also demonstrate a clear passion for negotiation as this area in particular has been impacted significantly with rising energy prices which is subsequently impacting costs across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing supplier performance, identifying potential new suppliers, and support to build long term supplier relationships
- Using insight tools to analyse and understand performance issues and opportunities
- Regularly checking competitors and ensuring that the your range provides the best customer offering whilst also investigating new trends and onboarding trending suppliers into the range.
- Negotiating with suppliers to agree and deliver, market-leading joint business plans for your areas aligned to the customer plan & category strategy
- Negotiating on supplier-funded media and delivering against the target
- Planning and delivering trade, promotions & events plans, striving to exceed KPIs, drive customer penetration and basket spend
- Working with the Supply Chain team to ensure we have best-in-class availability, and helping get our products to our customers on time
- Working with suppliers and the category quality team to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained
- Adhering to all Ocado policies, storage, and handover protocols and successfully completing all of your training so that you have zero GSCOP breaches. Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
