Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of the role is to negotiate and procure materials ensuring that the most competitive price is always achieved.
The Buyer will arrange the delivery of materials in accordance with the programme and project plans using a call off system.
The role also requires the Buyer to establish a strong relationship with suppliers and come to agreements of yearly price lists. The Buyer will manage and delegate tasks successfully to others to maximise time and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure price, quality, lead times and traceability throughout the procurement process
- Identify and implementing procedures to reduce spend/ achieve cost savings
- Evaluation of project plans/drawings
- Take off materials required for projects from drawings and specification.
- Responsible for ensuring materials meet required specification
- Arrange client meetings, including product approval
- Manage distribution of materials to projects
- Supplier negotiation to ensure most competitive price always achieved
- Ongoing budget management
- Arrange for delivery of materials in accordance with programme and project plans
- Establish strong relationships with site managers and suppliers
- Yearly Price list agreements set up with key suppliers
Person Specification:
- Excellent communication skills to help negotiations and ensure that expectations are clear
- Relationship building and networking skills
- Financial and accounting knowledge for calculating margins, gross profit and discounts
- An understanding of supply chain management and logistics
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheets
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards for quality control
- Personable with a confident manner
- Be able to be quick thinking with a flexible attitude to the role
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
