Vacant Job Position: Buyer (Sheet Metal)
The role is to take ownership of and to make improvements to the purchasing function for the Company. To maintain strong relationships with current suppliers and build relationships with potential suppliers. To source the correct products for the Company and Departments in a timely manner, negotiating the best value prices from a range of suppliers in order to support the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, working to company process standards and operating procedures. The role will also share the provision of holiday and absence cover for administrative staff.
The ideal candidate will have purchasing experience within the sheet metal manufacturing sector, strong communication and negotiating skills and be PC literate with experience of Microsoft packages, especially Excel. Experience of using SAGE and CRM systems a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities
- Negotiating/Expediting of Purchase Orders to ensure ADS receive material within agreed lead times
- Acknowledge and react to purchasing requests in a timely manner
- Obtain quotes from suppliers to obtain the best value
- Negotiate better prices where possible
- Maintain strong relationships with current vendors and build relationships with potential vendors
- Create purchase orders on Sage and ensure order acknowledgements
- Create new product codes where required
- Print copy of purchase order and note the time and date the p/o was sent
- Follow up to vendors with phone call to confirm p/o has been received
- Check order confirmations are correct
- Confirm lead time on all orders and follow up to ensure orders are delivered on time
- Ensure materials price spreadsheet is kept up to date
- Produce and circulate weekly/monthly stock/purchasing reports
- Scan in previous job packs
- To work efficiently and effectively towards departmental KPIs
- All other administrative duties associated with purchasing including booking jobs onto Sage / Hubspot / Trutops, scanning, filing etc
- Providing holiday and absence cover for administration staff
