City of York Council’s corporate Business Support Service is offering an exciting opportunity to join our management team. The post holder will be responsible for a range of administration services and have responsibility of managing of individual teams.
Management of the individual services will be considered based on the current management team and on the applicants knowledge, skills and experience. Business Support has service responsibility for Creditors, Blue Badges, Scanning and Mail and Payroll and delivers strategic and operational service plans for these areas. Business Support also provides administrative support to multiple council services such as, Adults and Children’s Services, Healthy Child, Parking, Waste, Highways and Planning/Building Control.
Key skills required for the role are:-
- Experience of Management.
- An understanding of operational administration within a support service environment.
- Experience in implementing and analysing systems.
- Experience in managing, motivating and developing staff both directly and non-directly.
- Experience of working in public sector with an understanding of how Local Authorities develop and deliver services.
- Ability to manage own workloads, prioritising and planning effectively to ensure statutory timescales are met
- People management skills with the ability to manage a professional team with a range of conflicting demands and deadlines.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
