Role Overview
The main purpose of a Business Planning Analyst is to update and maintain the capacity, forecasting models and plans, ensuring that the inputs and outputs needed to keep them relevant are effective, resulting in the delivery of the insight and data needed by the wider operational planning team and UKI stakeholders.
Scope: c. 50 capacity plans covering c.1,500 people
What you’ll do:
- To ensure that the capacity planning and forecasting services / outputs meets the principals, requirements and objectives for the business, leading to effective use of the resources
- Apply and recommend effective forecasting and planning processes and practices to deliver the right outcomes for our customers and stakeholders, including effective and timely delivery of forecasts and capacity plan outputs
- Apply effective communication methods between the strategic and business planning areas and the wider planning team, UKI and other functions at all levels acting as a Subject matter expert on forecasting and capacity planning
- Interpret and communicate any risks in the delivery of conduct risk measures, business objectives and financial targets
- Provide recommendations and Subject matter expertise to help mitigate or resolve risks to the delivery of conduct risk measures, business objectives and financial targets
- Apply effective processes for all changes (inputs) to the capacity plans, recruitment plans and the attrition, demand, shrinkage and productivity forecasts (within the agreed timeline and scope)
- Provide outputs for the operational teams and operational planning, which provide understanding of resource and requirements, to enable the sharing of risks and opportunities. This could include forecasts on demand, productivity, shrinkage and other related resource activities/impacts and/or insight into data differences between the systems used to understand our resource position
- Apply effective stakeholder relationships with all colleagues, role modelling collaboration, best practice and knowledge sharing
- Coach and educate others within the operational team and the wider planning team, developing their understanding of the Planning practices, methods, system(s) and tools
- Analyse current processes and practices and recommend improvements
- Analyse and interpret relevant MI and insights to recommend business solutions and/or risk management
- Recommend the better use of resource capacity, such as ways to reduce customer contact demand, increase productivity or use our resources in a more effective way
- Work with third parties (outsourcers) and stakeholders and partners within and outside of UKI as needed
What you’ll bring:
- Subject Matter Expert in forecasting and/or capacity planning, including modelling 'what if' scenarios, within a high volume (people) environment
- Experience of planning and forecasting for specialist teams of people, across multiple sites and in complex operations in a customer centric environment
- Proven experience of applying planning processes and practices with success
- Proven experience of using a Workforce management tool or planning models
- Proven experience of using complex and large volumes of data or information to recommend business solutions and communicate effectively
- Sound presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability in use of MS Office suite packages
- Experience of influencing decisions across different levels (front line to senior manager)
- Highly numerate and analytical
- Proven track record in delivering operational planning outputs for multi-functional business areas
- Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements
- Experience of liaising with a wide range of stakeholders such as external partners, third party suppliers or key account decision makers
