Background to the Opportunity:
Over the last few years, City has seen sustained growth as it has capitalised on new business opportunities, significantly increasing its client portfolio, which now includes the likes of M&S, Costa Coffee, BP, Homebase, Costco and several others.
Following an internal promotion within the City Group, an opportunity has arisen for a commercially astute and stakeholder-driven individual to join the Asda team as their Operations Finance Business Partner. CFM (UK) Ltd has responsibility for the Facilities Management of circa 700 Sites in the UK.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Operational Management Accounting team in the preparation of management accounts and reports for both the Asda Retail and Asda Distribution contracts.
Principal Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Business partnering with operations colleagues
- Preparation and review of monthly management accounts
- Direct line management of Management Accountants
- Performing appraisals and ongoing PDP for staff development
- Ensuring all tasks are completed and relevant deadlines are met by the team
- Commercial support for Managed Contracts team, tracking reactive spend / forecasts
- Holding an understanding of all elements of contract
- Maintaining control over key balance sheet accounts
- Involvement in system implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Data analysis for ad hoc queries from field on spend trends across stores and depots
- Assisting in preparation of annual budgets – both for internal stakeholders and for the customer
- Driving continuous process improvement
- Assistance with ad hoc / project work as required by Finance Manager
- Regularly updating the forecasting model as the business progresses / changes
- Designing models to assess arising business opportunities, acquisitions and mergers
- Developing and implementing supplementary business models that forecast significant business drivers on an independent basis which allows for scenario planning
- Monitoring and reporting KPIs for key business unit
Candidate Profile:
For this appointment, we are ideally looking to engage with part qualified / newly qualified accountants who have well-honed analytical skills and the strength of personality to manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders across various departments both internally and externally. We are looking for a confident communicator who enjoys being business-facing. Past managerial experience would be preferred but is not essential.
Over the next 12 months, you will have the opportunity to get involved with a major systems implementation. City is also transitioning to being a business led by data-driven decision-making and it is expected this role will have a focus on operational analytics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the business.
