This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in a career within Information and Business Intelligence in the NHS. As an experienced analyst, you will be part of a dynamic Performance and Information Team utilising innovation and new business technology to meet the needs of CNWL’s key internal and external objectives.
The post-holder will have excellent data manipulation and visualisation skills and a solid understanding of data presentation design and development principles. Experience with any business intelligence tool is essential, with Tableau preferred. Working with the Central performance team you will develop dashboards, business intelligence solutions and training and development packages to meet the needs of the Trust's services.
The post-holder will be a self-motivated individual who has an organised and logical approach to work and enjoys working flexibly under pressure in a busy team as well as working on your own initiative to achieve deadlines.
The post-holder will need data analysis skills, an innate problem-solving ability, written and good communication skills.
The post-holder should have strong MS excel skills and SQL skills. Experience with customer engagement is essential as this role is also front facing.
ADDITIONALLY: As part of your supporting information please include a 150 word (minimum) write-up on a recent analytical visual report you created and presented and what impact it had on decision making.
To contribute to the continuous development and efficient production of information reports and service analysis to meet the developing needs of the Trust’s key internal and external stakeholders.
The post holder will be located and line-managed within the central Performance & Business Insights Team and will actively contribute to delivery of the objectives of this corporate function. It is expected that the post holder will:
- Proactively developing a detailed knowledge of the services within the divisions and the information and broader ‘business insights’ needs of the clinicians and managers working within them;
- Providing helpful and considered analysis to support service priorities, making use of and linking information from a range of source systems;
- Providing training and support to clinicians and managers (in both 1:1 and group settings) to enable them to derive maximum benefits from the Trust’s Business Intelligence tools.
- Proactively identifying the information that clinicians and managers need to access by conducting a gap analysis, then working closely with the Lead Reports Developer to scope, specify and build new system extracts, reporting objects and templates on available business intelligence tools to better meet the services’ information and business insights needs.
You will have the opportunity to develop and shape both your own role and the team that you will lead, working closely with the Information and Business Intelligence Team to develop and deliver against the Trust's Performance, Information, Data Quality, and Business Intelligence priorities.

- The post holder would be expected to become an expert analyst on specific services, and develop strong working relationships with key individuals responsible for performance within the divisions/ services.
- To prepare and carry out in-depth analyses appropriately and accurately under the guidance of the Head of Information and Performance, using data sets on performance information provided by the Information Team.
- Contribute to the successful completion and submission of annual mental and community health benchmarking projects.
- Play a critical role in ensuring that the developing business insights and service analysis needs of key internal and external stakeholders are met as efficiently and effectively as possible.
- Demonstrate and champion a ‘customer focused’ approach considering at all times whether his / her work reflects the well-understood and effectively prioritised requirements of the key internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the importance of timely and accurate information provision to the service/ divisions to support business plans, service re-design and benchmarking.
- Ensure the proactive use of information to highlight any areas of service improvement against national or internal key performance indicators, or business objectives and bring this to the attention of the services/ divisions.
- Demonstrate and champion how business intelligence tools can be used to develop and run ‘intelligent information’ reports to support service redesign, benchmarking and quality standards.
- Provide ongoing support, training and guidance to key internal stakeholders so that they are able to use available business intelligence tools to build and run their own information reports, adjusting the content, parameters and presentation so as best to meet their needs.
- Understand the developing information and broader business insights needs of internal and external stakeholder groups and ensure that appropriate system extracts, reporting objects and reporting templates are built and published on the BI system.
- Ensure timely management and timely delivery of assigned analytics projects using a standard project methodology.
