Salary: up to £55k per year + commission + benefits

Location: South of England (infrequent travel to the Isle of Wight)

Hours: Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading provider of specialist testing services and structural monitoring to the construction, rail, energy, marine, highways and maintenance sectors.

We are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager for Renewable Energy to join their growing team of industry leading technical authorities, chartered engineers, experienced project managers and technicians.

Our client combine expert engineering with strong customer service, contract management and operational planning capabilities. Their expertise and understanding of monitoring instrumentation and data acquisition systems enables them to provide a range of integrated testing and monitoring solutions that meet the highly challenging and technically demanding needs of their customers. Their aim is to enable asset owners/managers and construction companies to make timely decisions that reduce the risk of a project throughout the asset lifecycle.

The ideal candidate for this role will be based on the South Coast to allow for regular travel to the Cowes office, Isle of Wight.

What will I be doing?

Who our client work with is everything to them, their relationship with customers really matters!

They love working with people who think like they do and as a Renewables Business Development Manager, you will be involved in the management of the Renewables pipeline and client relationships. You will take the lead on the development of profitable new business in this sector and work to develop the renewables offshore wind strategy and activities in this market.

You will identify and deliver long-term strategic client and channel (reseller/agent) relationships for the Renewables category of our clients business. Undertaking strategic customer visits to bring on new customers as well as developing existing customer accounts, whilst developing and managing the agent network and proactively identifying opportunities by following projects.

You will take responsibility for quoting at profitable levels and closing orders once quoted. You will take ownership for customer relationships, acting as the ‘voice of the customer’ internally to ensure the customer experiences quality service from us at all times.

The role is home based, and you will manage your time effectively to achieve the business objectives and company targets. However, in the first 6 months, travel to the Cowes office will be frequent, initially in the first two weeks we would expect you to be in the office for four to five days and thereafter this would reduce to two to three days every 2 weeks. After the 6-month probation has been completed the frequency will reduce to just once a month.

Duties include

· Support the Business Development Head and wider team in devising, implementing, monitoring and executing the sales strategy

· Proactively seek out opportunities for potential work by identifying new target customers, new target regions and new target projects as appropriate and prioritise opportunities to ensure our client are focusing effort for the best return

· Build up annual proactive visit/meeting plans with key target customers, visit objectives and actions

· Drive actions to overcome any obstacles to securing business and close orders

· Proactively seek out and report back market intelligence in relation to competitors, changes in the market, including interfacing with the wider business regarding offshore trends and opportunities for collaboration in the Renewables sector

What experience do I need?

Our clients team consists of the best people, they should know, because they trained them. They want their new recruits to have the same attitude, aptitude and appetite for what they do.

· Knowledge of load monitoring equipment or a background in an engineering/technical company would be a distinct advantage

· Previous offshore wind experience and/or Renewables, Oil & Gas sector experience

· Proven ability to establish new customers and develop existing client accounts

· Driving license, passport and ability to travel away from home up to 30% of the time

· Proven negotiation and closing skills
