About us and the role

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and developing strategic partnerships for the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). Reporting directly to the Head of Business Services, the Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in identifying new opportunities, fostering relationships with external stakeholders, and contributing to the overall success and sustainability of the MAT. This position requires a proactive and results-oriented individual with strong business acumen, and excellent communication skills.

What will you do?

  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities: Conduct research to identify potential growth areas and strategic opportunities for the MAT. Develop and implement plans to expand the reach and impact of the trust's services.
  • Build strategic partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, government bodies, businesses, and community organizations. Collaborate with these partners to develop mutually beneficial initiatives and secure additional funding or resources for the trust.
  • Lead business development initiatives: Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the MAT's objectives. This includes identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, drafting proposals, and negotiating contracts.
  • Collaborate with school leaders: Work closely with the leadership teams of individual academies within the trust to understand their needs and align business development efforts accordingly. Provide guidance and support to academy staff in developing business plans, marketing strategies, and income generation activities.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, preferably within the education or nonprofit sector or business consulting.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate market trends and data into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
